Lychee and Wood

3D video mapping on paper roll
2019, 26 x 20.4cm

Lychee and wood portrays relationships pertaining to material properties, shaping and state changes. The video of two objects being held by a steel cage, being projected on a tissue roll plays a central role as material, theme and morphology in a circular construction pumping an imaginary suspense. There remains an underlying narrative and many cues taken from Melbourne CBD’s unrecognised and unadorned areas, together its ecology and natural history, but a new work is distilled into something more purely sculptural, more irreducible. How it looked before and after, understanding of past and future has been transformed, and the vehicle for this re-thinking.
