Pink Swing

Acrylic and oil on linen canvas
2020, 152.4 x 122.5cm

A solo exhibition at neospace, Collingwood. This series evokes a self-relevant narrative of the artist’s Malaysian Heritage, depicting a personal meditation upon the concept of home, our relationships, and how this environment informs our aesthetic sensibilities. This series presents a personal episodic account of cultural signifiers in both Penang and Melbourne. The narrative throughout the series translates as a contemplation of the ephemeral nature of these moments where fleeting assimilations of his surrounds are the precursors for nostalgia. Pink Swing conveys how disparate experiences may converge but also collide in the process of retrospection.
